Thanks to alert reader Scott pointing me to Buyblue.org and their Blue Christmas campaign, an attempt to both boycott companies that supported the GOP while rewarding companies that supported the Democrats.

Hit the Blue Christmas link to see their tabulation of stats from the FEC and the Center for Responsive Politics. Granted, this is a measure that completely ignores stuff like trade practices, environmental policies, and how they treat their workers. So, as always, you can make your buying decisions as complex as you'd like. But if you just want not to give your money to people who give money to the GOP, there are some pretty stark choices on offer:

If you want household goods, WalMart's one of the bad guys (like that's a surprise), but Bed Bath & Beyond gave 93% of its contributions to Democrats. Flying cheap? Southwest is a red state, but the well-named Jet Blue gave 88% the Dems. Looking to get drunk (and who isn't these days)? Captain Morgan staggers past Jack Daniels by a wide margin...
