Those of you in NYC, go check out "Man 1, Bank 0", an amazing and funny show by my buddy Patrick Combs, now running off-Broadway at the Lamb's Theatre.

"Man 1, Bank 0" is Patrick's own true tall tale about the time he got one of those huge bullshit "non-negotiable" checks from a junk mail company. Patrick's dry sense of humor being what it is, he decided to deposit it, purely as an odd little joke.

But the check cleared.

And then the bank, the junk mail company, and even folks like the Wall Street Journal got interested.

Really interested.

You basically sit there for 90 minutes laughing your ass off, sharing Patrick's still-genuine disbelief at the lunatic chain of events that followed.

I saw the show here in L.A. during its pupa phase 18 months ago, and it was already a hoot. Next thing you knew, he was performing at the Aspen Comedy Festival. Next year, he'll be at Just For Laughs in Montreal, which is comedy Mecca.

So go. There are only a few shows left.

PS -- I've been lucky enough to call Patrick my friend for almost ten times longer than Bush's nominee for the Supreme Court has been a judge. Tells you what I personally think of both guys right there.
