My friend Steph directs us to this Guardian article on the little-noticed recent report of the U.S. Commission On Civil Rights, boldly called "Redefining Rights in America: The Civil Rights Record of the George W. Bush Administration, 2001-2004" (.pdf format), from which I quote:

This report finds that President Bush has neither exhibited leadership on pressing civil rights issues, nor taken actions that matched his words.

Download. Read. The report is, um... direct. Strikingly so. You find heading after heading with names like "The Bush Agenda And America's Entrenched Discrimination Problems," "Voter Intimidation," "Bush Administration Housing Actions: Limiting The Dream," and so on.

There's also a fine list of Bush nominees to the federal bench who are at least as comfortable in white hoods as black robes -- a spectacularly clear hint of what's coming for the Supreme Court if Bush isn't sent away.

If you have undecideds in your house, print this thing up and hand it to them. And when they ask who the hell the USCCR is, tell them: it's an independent, bipartisan agency established by Congress in 1957. This is from inside Bush's own government.

Naturally, the GOP commissioners did exactly what you'd expect: they tried to suppress the report.
