    From Popular Science, via BoingBoing:

About 50 tons of red goo fell from the sky in India a few years ago.  It turns out the goo contains teeny little cell-like structures that can reproduce in absurdly — nay, otherworldly — impossible conditions.  And so far, there doesn't seem to be any DNA in there.

What is it?  How does it work?  Will it do manual labor cheaply?  Scientists do not yet know.  But there's an outside shot that it may ultimately be the first life we've ever found that didn't originate on this planet.

By this time next week, I fully expect GOP Congressmen to be demanding that we build a wall to protect us from the sky.  And that Democrats will be too timid to disagree.

Enjoy the sun while it lasts.
