I just heard a "conservative" on the radio saying that adapting the way we live to deal with global warming will be inherently harmful to everyone's economic welfare.

Guess he really doesn't believe in the power of the free market, then.  Apparently he doesn't think that massive public awareness of the need for, say, renewable energy supplies would create a profitable global demand for clean energy.

These guys couldn't really believe in the free market one bit, or they wouldn't be so freaked out.

Seems worth mentioning.
