If you’ve never seen the pronking display in person, put it on your list.  Springboks zip along at high speed and then ZING! they’re practically flying ten feet in the air, visually announcing to all potential predators, “hey, look at me! I said, LOOK AT ME! I’m so quick and agile and nimble! Don’t even think about trying to chase me down. LOOK AT ME!  I rule!“

That’s what this little guy is about to start doing.  Fabulous.

PS — Yes, all springboks look a little like Shelley Duvall.

This is an evolutionary adaptation that helps them get away from Jack Nicholson, if they’re ever trapped with him in an old hotel.
