    If you’d like to toss a few bucks toward folks who had little and now have nothing, this would be a good time.

    I’ve never been to Java, but in my one brief visit elsewhere in Indonesia I was treated with more friendliness than I knew how to react to. (Some of this, no doubt, was because I was a relatively     well-off tourist, and thus a possible source of income, granted. But I do think a great deal of it was just general human decency.)

If you’ve never seen the pronking display in person, put it on your list.  Springboks zip along at high speed and then ZING! they’re practically flying ten feet in the air, visually announcing to all potential predators, “hey, look at me! I said, LOOK AT ME! I’m so quick and agile and nimble! Don’t even think about trying to chase me down. LOOK AT ME!  I rule!“

That’s what this little guy is about to start doing.  Fabulous.

This is an evolutionary adaptation that helps them get away from Jack Nicholson, if they’re ever trapped with him in an old hotel.
