Friday Pudublogging: Newest Pudu Yet

I think this is fresh from another pudu!

This little one is from the Micke Grove Zoo in San Joaquin County.  They also have dik-diks and chevrotains and all sorts of trotter-based lifeforms.

655 grams, if I’m reading this right, is a little less than four 6-oz. cans of tuna.  Pudu here is about the same size, too.  Just add fur and a tiny Mona Lisa smile (which you’ll see if you look close).

Sigh.

Have a great weekend.

The Senate Torture Lobby hearts the Monkey King and his holy war

Here
are the nine who voted against the McCain now-that-we-think-about-it,
four-years-later, torture-is-bad Amendment, which passed 90-9 with one
abstention:

Allard (R-CO)
Bond (R-MO)
Coburn (R-OK)
Cochran (R-MS)
Cornyn (R-TX)
Inhofe (R-OK)
Roberts (R-KS)
Sessions (R-AL)
Stevens (R-AK)

The measure was supported by Colin Powell and 28 other retired senior military officers.

Naturally, the Monkey King threatened to veto the measure.  It would limit his power to inflict war at all costs.  After all, he does really think he’s doing god’s work.

Oh… and that last part is from the BBC, which is now openly reporting that Bush has claimed the war is god’s work.  Chris, incidentally, was writing about this exact thing over two years ago.

Calling all with pudu knowledge

To any visitors from Chile or Argentina who swing through the site:

I’m considering taking a few weeks to go see some of your part of the world.
Beyond Santiago and Buenos Aires, which I’ll definitely visit if only
in transit (and probably a good deal more), what’s don’t-miss?
Patagonia, the Lakes district, the Chilean coast, the Atacama desert,
Cerro de la Ventana, San Carlos de Barriloche?  What’s overrated?  Any
other tips or advice will be much appreciated, especially if it
involves hints on viewing the elusive pudu.

Y pienso que los pudus hablan espa

Continued light blogging

Book still dominating my life for at least a few more days.

After that, comic books and another DVD project will jump up fast.  So this place will
lie fallow for a day or two sometimes in the coming months.  Just a
courtesy heads-up.

End of the week, a new pudu (and when I say new, I mean new) that will make you want to hug everything in sight.

When I get a few spare hours, a full final update on Upsidedownland,
with comparison maps with other states and storms, the blithely
irrelevant official response I got from FEMA, and details of how Brownie said stuff that just wasn’t true under oath when the subject of how parishes were chosen came up.  But that will take a bit of time to pull together into one post.

Thanks!
