Who could possibly believe the whole Iran thing isn’t a crisis?

A group of 21 former U.S. generals, diplomats, and national security officials, that’s who.  Including a former head of U.S. Central Command under Bush 41.

They’re releasing an open letter tomorrow explaining why they believe the Bush administration’s hard-line policies are just making the problems worse.

Given the way Israel’s bombing campaign probably left Hezbollah stronger than it was before… not too hard to understand.

What Senator George Allen meant to say

No, of course Sen. George Allen didn’t mean to call that one not-quite-white audience member a macaca, a racial epithet meaning monkey.  Twice.

Although it’s still not quite clear what Allen actually meant to say.

Was it alpaca?

Alpaca plays footy

Chewbacca?

Chewie!

Or Boom-Chaka-Laka?

Boom-chaka, boom-chaka, BOOM-chaka-laka-laka

Senator Akaka?

The do-nothing Democrat

Baraka?

Bulworth's inner voice

Or a New Zealand Haka?

Ka mate, ka mate! Ka ora, ka ora!

I’m sure one of those also explains why he told the darker-skinned man, who was born in Virginia and is thus at least as much an American as Allen, "welcome to America."

Allen wants to be president in 2008, btw.
