Face it. You’re a Neil Innes fan.
It’s OK. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. Lots of people are. Heck, in some cities there are whole communities of people who get together and sing the Monty Python "Knights Of The Round Table" music.
In public.
With cops around.
I hear sometimes, if it’s late, the cops even join in.
Supposedly, certain members of Dick Cheney’s family even hum music from the brilliant Beatles parody, "The Rutles." Oh, they deny it. They act offended if you even bring it up.
But you know Lynne Cheney wishes "Goose-Step Mama" was written for her.
And I have it on good authority that the transmitter on Bush’s back during the debates was actually playing Neil’s music into his earpiece.
So go ahead. Love Neil Innes. Openly. Freely.
And if you’re excited that Neil is touring the U.S., that’s OK. No matter what other people say. It’s who you are. If you want to see if he’s coming to your town, then more power to you.
I hear if Kerry wins there’s gonna be a lot more acceptance of comedy in this country. A lot more.
