Your courageous White House press corps… needs Rich Little

The most vital purpose of the First Amendment is so the media can act as a check on the government’s power.  But the White House Correspondents Association was so freaked out by Stephen Colbert actually standing up to Team Chimpy last year that now they’ve gone out and found…

Rich Little.

And even that wasn’t enough.  They felt the need to expressly tell Rich Little to please, please, please don’t offend poor sensitive Mr. Bush.

Oy.

Merhaba T

I sometimes fool around with this site as a way of avoiding actual paying work I don’t feel like doing right that minute.  (An inspiring mission statement, yes.)  So tonight to avoid reading any more about the Philippines for the current book project, I pretended to be working for one minute by checking my site stats.  And this leapt out:

Merhaba, Turkiye!

Well, that’s unusual.  Probably a blip.  But I loved Turkey and want to go back, so what the hey, while you’re here.  Merhaba!  Hosh geldiniz.  Istanbul is seriously güzel.  I loved it.

And that’s all the Turkish I know, and half of it is misspelled.  But anyhow, the Turks were about as welcoming as humans can be, so this is just being nice back.

And everybody else, if you’re looking for a surprisingly great holiday, Turkey.

OK, back to work now for me.  Thanks for indulging this post.
